Our Leadership
The Voices Rising Leadership Team is a group of individuals (both singers and non-singers) who serve as the board for our 501c3 non-profit organization and who guide the direction of the chorus. Though there is no financial obligation to serve on the board, Leadership Team members are expected to serve one full year, from June to June, and meetings are held one evening per month in the Boston area.
If you are interested in attending, joining, or learning more about how you can support the chorus and its Leadership Team, please email our current team.
Yours in song,
The Voices Rising Leadership Team
Who can be a Leadership Team member?
- Anyone who cares about Voices Rising and wants to ensure its future success
- Anyone who would like to support Boston’s LGBT-friendly women’s choral community
- Anyone who wants to be part of the Voices Rising community but doesn’t sing or cannot attend weekly rehearsal
What do Leadership Team members do?
- Help shape the vision and direction of the chorus
- Help promote the chorus and increase its visibility locally and on a broader stage
- Organize concerts and oversee fundraisers and all regular chorus operations
- Create and achieve goals for community involvement and inclusivity
- Identify performance opportunities and grants that fulfill our commitments to activism and education
- Solicit and discuss member/audience feedback and work to improve singers’ and audience members’ experiences
- Attend monthly LT meetings
Responsibilities are divided up by choice, with each member taking ownership of the projects that are most aligned with their personal strengths and interests. Traditionally, who steps forward will receive training and mentoring from LT members who have done these jobs in the past.
